Easter Holiday Fun!

It’s a beautiful time of year here in sunny North Cyprus, and at Thalassa we are ready for the arrival of many families for the Easter holidays.

As usual we like to involve everyone, adults and children alike and there are various events lined up so that everyone can participate. On Sunday 17th April, at 11am, kids can join the annual easter egg hunt and painting event with their parents and then relax at Deks Restaurant for a lovely traditional Sunday Lunch at 3pm. Cost is 280TL per person.

Thalassa Coastal Clean Up Day!

Tuesday 26th April 2022 marked the first of what we hope will be many ‘doing some good’ days here at Thalassa.

After a call out to our home owners and company staff from all sides of our business, a clean up event was organised to collect rubbish along a nearly 6km stretch of the coastline. Thankfully, a breeze prevailed over what was a hot day in late April.

Gloves and bags to hand, teams spent over 2 hours collecting a host of rubbish which sadly washes up on our shores on a regular basis. With our tractor and trailer on hand to transport the rubbish and the teams up and down the coast, over 50 bags of rubbish was collected.

Prizes were awarded to those who collected the most rubbish and to celebrate the successful event and to thank everyone who participated, a BBQ was provided to refresh our volunteers.

Well done to everyone and thank you for your help! We look forward to seeing what the Thalassa team gets up to next.

Thalassa Trails!

A new initiative will soon be introduced to Thalassa, particularly aimed at those who wish to be out in the great outdoors, enjoying the resort and its surroundings.

Thalassa Trails is a set of tracks and paths which have been mapped out, offering those who want to walk, run, cycle, even rock climb or canoe, the chance to do so and find their way easily. With a range of ability trails, we have catered for several distances, some hard, some not so. All the trails are marked along the way, so you will always know you are going in the right direction.

For a shorter trail, choose the 6km, taking you along the coastline and back through the countryside. A 7km trail will talk you into some wonderful low lying mountains where you can walk around the lost city of Knidos and visit the lighthouse and the secret beach. Alternatively the rambling 13km trail will keep you out in nature for 2.5 hours, where you can relax and do things at your own pace.

Finally, if you really love the sea, take a canoe and paddle gently over to the secret beach or for a more exhilarating experience, you can also rock climb back! And don’t forget, Deks is always able to refresh you with great food and drinks on your return, and the Spa can sooth your aching feet and body!

Printed versions of our map are on their way and a bigger Thalassa Trails sign will be set up at the Start and Finish point within the resort.

There is a trail for everyone, so take get on those walking boots, running shoes, take a Thalassa mountain bike or a canoe and go for it – enjoy!

Wonderful Weddings!

One of our property owners at Thalassa recently chose to host part of their wedding celebrations with us at Thalassa, right on the beach! Lejla and Aman love Thalassa so much that they really wanted to share it with their guests.

With the main wedding held at the nearby Limak Hotel, guests were then treated to a wonderful afternoon celebration ceremony and speeches at our beach, catered for by our onsite restaurant team, Deks.

A saxophonist was on hand to provide some superb live music for the crowd and speeches were given by members of the family for the happy couple.

Thalassa means Fitness!

Now summer is finally in full swing and the days and nights get hotter, it might just be that you want to relax and just unwind, with some good food, good company and plenty of sunbathing! However, you may also want to make the most of the beautiful surroundings at Thalassa, and if you like your fitness then we can think of nowhere better to be!

Early mornings are perfect for those who may wish to take a swim in the sea, while watching a glorious sunrise. Some of us like to get in a good session at the gym outdoors, before it gets a little too hot for that fat-burning cardio workout!

Some like an early morning or evening run, or even a cycle, taking in the local surroundings and beautiful coastline. The ideal way to see the local area and explore. Walking and hiking is also a favourite pastime for many and there is nothing better than taking yourself away across the coast up to the old lighthouse and lost City of Knidos – exploration at its best!

If you enjoy being on the water, paddle boards are a fantastic way to while away the hours, getting your arms toned and enjoying feeling free. We can arrange snorkelling and boating trips too, so perfect for groups. Kayaks are also available, another way to be at one with the sea.

Check out the indoor heated pool if you fancy a little more heat when you swim, or for a more holiday vibe, our huge freeform outdoor pool is perfect for everyone. For the kids, there is plenty to get them active and engaged, with giant chess, waterslides, climbing rocks, playground and games room.

Our floodlit tennis and basketball court is perfect for evening use in the summer months, with many finding it more pleasant to play once the heat of the day has passed. For more perhaps sedate activity, boules and mini golf are also a fun way to spend some time being active with friends.

And for those who really like to benefit from their surroundings, yoga is always a popular way to really appreciate the resort – sessions down at the beach at sunrise and late evening sunsets are a favourite with our guests who find the peace and quiet so appealing.

Owners Party 2022

It has been a long time for many of our property owners since they last all had an evening together. The yearly Thalassa property owner’s party has not been held for the last two years due to the covid pandemic sadly, but they certainly made up for lost time this year!

An evening event is usually held every year, a great chance for Thalassa Beach Resort & Spa property owners to catch up and enjoy the summer climate over some good food and drink, along with some live music.

The 2022 Owners Party was held on 30th May and was attended by around 100 people at the pool bar area. Deks were on hand to handle the catering with BBQ and drinks. Music was provided by Mental Soup and DJ AmmarOFF. It was a lovely way for owners to catch up with each other, after what has been a very long time for some.

Do you love yoga, have you never tried yoga, would you like to try yoga? If you are staying with us during the summer months, we really do recommend joining the team for early morning sessions, when the heat has not yet made its mark on the day ahead!

There are so many benefits of yoga, and over the years it is now a firm favourite for many for so many reasons. Here are some of them:

Turtle-Tastic!

It’s that time of year, when the wonderful season of turtle nesting comes to North Cyprus! Every year, both Green and Loggerhead turtles come to mate and nest on the beaches of the coastline in their hundreds, and it is a place of much activity. There are now many groups involved in ensuring that the turtles are protected and their young have the best chance of survival. The nesting season generally runs from May to October every year.

Turtles can lay nests of up to 100 eggs, digging deep holes in the sand to bury their eggs. They then cover them up and return to the sea, leaving the eggs to incubate and hatch of their own accord. Turtles also return to the same place year after year, only maturing to lay their eggs from the age of 20. The life of a turtle is a long one!

There are several large beach areas that are constantly monitored each year, Akdeniz and Karsiyaka along the northeast coast and Alagadi and Karpaz along the northwest coasts. Nowadays you can experience some of the nesting season for yourselves, with evening excavations to help the hatchlings on their way and you can help get them into the sea too!

If you are exploring the beaches of North Cyprus, you may well see mesh structures dotted along the beaches, which means they are there to protect nests. Please abide by the following during summer :

Do NOT go to the beach area between 8pm and 8am during breeding season.
Do NOT use ANY boat or jet-ski in the 2 mile radius of the protected beach area.
Do NOT throw plastic bags or bottles and any litter or any food on the beach or in the sea.
Do NOT dig or use beach umbrellas or sun beds near turtle nests.
Do NOT bring dogs or any animals onto the beach.
Do NOT light fires on the beach.
Do NOT touch baby turtles for your own safety as they may carry salmonella.

Thalassa Kids Club ‘ Beached’

2022 has been a big year for Thalassa Beach Resort & Spa, lots has been happening and we are really pleased with how our planned Kids Club has turned out! Named ‘Beached’ kids have started to enjoy some quality play time.

Opening this month, kids of all ages can spend lots of their time being active in various ways, from ball pen, to drawing and making art. Books and toys, colouring, painting and crafts will keep the little ones occupied for hours!

There is also a range of activities which are organised for the summer months, so look out for more information around the resort.

Gym Upgrade

We have been working hard in 2022 to improve on some of our facilities and the gym has reopened this season, having had a fantastic upgrade!

Many of our guests love to work out while they are here with us on holiday and throughout the day they can now enjoy an even better experience.

With a complete change of sports and fitness equipment, with all the latest technology, through to free weights, exercise balls and dumbells, there is something for everyone who loves their workouts.

Come and give it a go, use our new treadmills, cardio and rowing machines, all with a fabulous view to the sea! When you are ready to wind down, take a swim in the indoor pool or have a calming and soothing massage or Turkish Hamam next door in the Spa.
